Suri Cruise Eat Your Heart Out!!!

Today was a big day for Sadie...we cut off 8 inches of her hair! It was just getting too long and we were hoping to be able to donate it to Locks of Love. Unfortunately, to donate the hair must be atleast 10 inches, so we missed it by a couple of inches. Her hair grows fast, so next time we will donate it. We went to Cookie Cutters and it was quite the experience! Whoever came up with that whole idea is a genius! She got to sit on a motorcycle, watch "Dora the Explorer" while getting the cut, mom and dad got to play video games and left with a fabulous goodie bags. The hairdresser was great with her and after all the hair was gone, she said, "has anyone ever told you that she looks like Suri Cruise?" Before I could say yes (we have had a lot of people say the same thing), Charlie blurts out "yeah, but Sadie is cuter." Nothing like a VERY proud daddy.

I was a total spaz and didnt get a picture of how long her hair was before the cut, but I had taken some earlier today. And no she doesnt have glasses...those are mine.

Lessons Learned

As I was driving around today, I started thinking about the past year and our time here in Salt Lake. It has been a year of many changes, some good and some bad and I thought about all the things I have learned. Last May after receiving the news that Charlie was accepted at the U, I remember thinking that I could never live in Salt Lake and be that far from my family and friends (that seems ridiculous now, especially when most people go away to school in a different state). However, everything just seemed to fall into place and both Charlie and I knew that we needed a change of scenery and what a difference it has made! I used to have the philosophy that we were here in Salt Lake because of Charlie, but one day I realized that this journey is also about me. I needed this year, with every single trial and triumph to teach me these simple lessons. Here is just a glimpse of the things I have learned:

-The Church is true no matter where you go.

-Time heals all wounds.

-The meaning of true friendship.

-That it is okay to ask for help.

-That I cant sweat the small stuff.

-I need to live each day to the fullest.

-I need to say "I love you" more.

-A budget isn't a bad thing.

-The importance of an education.

-I am in charge of my own happiness.

-I need to focus on the positive things, instead of the negative.

-I love decorating cakes.

-I cant control everything.

-Laughter is the best medicine.

-I cant worry about those things I cant control.

-My family will always be "home" to me no matter where I go.

-Forgiveness is powerful.

AND

-That I love this little one:

and this big guy

more than I thought possible.

Singin' in the Rain!!!

When I was growing up, I loved to sit outside on our porch during rainstorms. I would bundle up in a blanket and sit outside and enjoy natures scenery. Tonight while I was baking cookies, it started raining, so I asked Sadie if she wanted to go sit out on the porch with me. She was all for it, she immediatley ran to her room to get her slicker and umbrella. Once outside, she was running around and trying to catch raindrops in her mouth. The storm turned into a downpour which created puddles everywhere and Sadie took advantage of those. We both were soaking wet within a few minutes, but it was so worth it!!!

So, this morning as I was checking my blog here, I saw that I had a few new comments from my previous blog post and one that was a bit, how would you say, CRAZY?!?! But here is where I have a little bit of a problem, if you want to leave a CRAZY comment on my blog, go ahead but atleast have the cajones to not leave it anonymously.
