Sick Day

This week was supposed to be filled with Halloween parties, trunk or treats and just plain fun. Instead, it has been filled with doctor visits, prescriptions, breathing treatments and a humidifier. On Saturday after the Boo at the Zoo, Sadie seemed to be overly tired. I just chalked it up to her running around the zoo like a maniac. On Sunday, we were at my moms and she was being super ornery which is not like her especially when she is at grandma Joys. She went down for a little nap and when she woke up, she had this barking cough and a fever. My mom (who is in nursing school) told me to get her stethoscope so she could listen to her breathing. Well, things didnt check out in that department either. My mom said, "it sounds like she has croup." And in my mind, I am like no way. My sister Carrie (who is also a nursing student) busts out one of her nursing books to see what the symptoms of croup are and lo and behold, Sadie had most of them. Argh! As we were driving home, Sadie kept coughing and it seemed like she was having a hard time catching her breath. We got her home and got her down to bed, but Charlie and I spent most of the night checking on her.
Yesterday morning, I took her to her pediatrician. Not only does she have croup, but she also has yet another ear infection. I left the doctors office with four prescriptions and the caution to keep her away from other little kids. Of all the weeks to be sick! She has to do these crazy breathing treatments at night and is on some steroids to help get her back in tip-top shape. I feel bad that she is missing out on all the fun things we had planned for this week, I am hoping she will atleast be able to go do a little trick or treating on Friday.
She is so tired of being inside, so tonight I decided we could go outside for just a little bit and she could paint her little pumpkins our sweet neighbors gave us. She was so excited to be outside and quickly took off her jacket and shoes to run around. She refused to put them back on, so I just told her to paint fast. She loved every second of it. She kept telling me "thanks" for taking her outside. She was so excited to show them to Charlie when he got home from school. They are quite the colorful works of art.

Boo at the Zoo

Charlie as the next Polynesian Disney Princess

Yesterday we went to the annual "Boo and the Zoo." It is an awesome event that the Hogle Zoo puts on every Halloween season. Kids go throughout the park trick or treating in their costumes. It was absolute mayhem, I have never seen so many costumed children in all my life. Sadie had so much fun just watching all the other kids and calling out to them if she recognized the costume. The animals were all out and enjoying the cool fall weather. Charlie and I decided that the "Boo at the Zoo" will now be a family tradition. I cant wait until next year....maybe I can convince Charlie to dress up.

Home Sweet Home

I arrived home from sunny Las Vegas last night. It was quite a fun little trip and I was able to spend lots of time with my sister and my nieces. Little Lucy is such a good baby and she has the coolest older sisters. She is one week old today! My sister is a rock star, she now has three little girls and is such a good mom. We had a fun time relaxing and catching up. It was hard being away from Sadie and Charlie, it was the first time ever that I had left Sadie for more than a couple of hours. When they dropped me off at the airport, Sadie thought she was coming too and wasnt too happy when she realized she wasnt heading out to Vegas too. She quickly got over that and spend four fun filled days with Charlie. I could hardly get out of the airport quick enough last night to see her, she was so excited to see me. She kept saying "hi, mom...hi, mom" while waving in my face. It was so nice to be back home and in my own bed. Here are some highlights from my trip.

I brought both of the older sisters presents to celebrate their new sister. Here are Annie and Leah enjoying the gifts.

Swinging good time

Rachel and I decided to create our own version of Kiddie Kandids and take some pictures of little Lucy. It was so much fun and Lucy was pretty cooperative. While in Vegas, we went to Rachel's ward Fabulous Friday and we made tons of bows and headbands. Lucy was our model for the bows.

Announcement

My sister had her little baby girl today. Her name is Lucy and she is the third girl within the family. She is adorable! Both mom and baby are doing well. They live in Las Vegas so it is hard not being there right now, but I will be flying out there on Wednesday to stay for a few days. I am very excited. Welcome to the world little one!

A Typical Day with Sadie

To listen to the videos, make sure to pause the music at the bottom of the page!

Sing a long

This is one of Sadie's latest talents, singing along with all her Disney videos. It is so funny to watche her build up to the chorus and then she belts it out. Dont mind the crazy furniture, Sadie also thinks she is an interior designer.

ChatterBox

Sadie also loves to talk on the phone, I wonder where she picks up on this stuff? I caught her doing this and I had to whip the camera out.

And I'm Back in the Game!!!

I have had a lot of people ask me where the cake classes are held. I have been taking my classes at Michaels and our teacher is fantastic. She makes the most amazing cakes. You can check out her stuff and get great recipes at http://mysweetweddingcakes.com.

Tonight was my last night of my Course Two cake decorating class. It was fantastic. These whole course was devoted to making different flowers and the final goal was a cute flower basket cake. I am pretty impressed with how my cake turned out. It is such a fun class, I cant wait for the next course.
