Sadie is officially a first grader! Its hard to believe she is going to be gone all day at school...in fact, as I'm typing this, I am counting down the minutes until I get to go pick her up. Brigham isn't liking having his sissy gone but I know she is having a great time in school. She has an awesome teacher who loves painting as much as Sadie does.
We started a tradition this year of doing a Back to School dinner. Sadie wanted to go to Mimi's Cafe for Minnie Mouse pancakes and they did not disappoint!
She also got a little visit from the Back to School fairy. The fairy brought her a Hello Kitty ring to wear to remember we love her and are thinking about her while she is at school.
Her first day of school was August 29, 2012. She was so excited, I don't think she got a wink of sleep the night before. She was up super early and ready to get to school and see all her friends.

Unfortunately, Sadie did not have the best first day. I went to pick her up and I knew something was wrong as soon as I saw her. She got in the car and broke down in tears. It took me several attempts to understand what was wrong and I was sad right along with her. She had lost her ring the fairy brought her and she said she was exhausted. I told her we would search for the ring and maybe see if it ended up in the lost and found. We came home and she climbed in bed and slept for four hours. She woke up with a fever and throwing up, complaining that her throat hurt. I immediately knew she had strep again (yes, she has had it twice this summer.) We took her to the doctor and sure enough she had strep. She ended up missing the next two days of school to make sure the antibiotics had time to work and let her body rest. We also started her on some pro-biotics to help her body build up the "good" bacteria so she doesn't get strep again. She may also be a strep carrier which we will be getting her tested for.
She is back to feeling 100% and back in school. Today was the first official entire day and she did awesome. We are so excited to see her learn and grow in the first grade!
