Sadie has developed quite an obsession with coloring. While, this is a great way of keeping her entertained and helping with her creativity, the coloring has quickly gone from the coloring books to our walls. We have tried telling her that she can only color in the living room and with mom and dad present. However, it seems that no matter what we do, she manages to sneak away to a bigger canvas...our walls. We now keep the crayons hidden and watch her like a hawk when there is coloring involved.
She did a lovely "portrait" the other day while my mom was here. I found her coloring away on our bedroom walls. I got frustrated while my mom says "atleast she uses different colors."
Here are just a few of her latest endeavors.
And yes...we are RENTING this house! Thank goodness for Mr. Clean and his Magic Erasers!!!

CHEESE!!!!! Hey buddy... I don't know if I have commented on your blog yet, but I noticed you are always so awesome to check out ours! Your little Sadie is a doll, you scored a hotty of a wife, and you look as tough as ever! I haven't seen you in forever- how is Jesse?
Oh, and PS, it's such a small world: My husbands' cousin & wife are Grant & Catherine Smith. They are our way good buddy's & noticed your comments on my blog... they used to be in your ward? Anyways, thought that was pretty cool they knew you:)
How fun! We've experienced that a few times with Kaden. Thanks for the text yesterday. kaden had a great birthday!
Also, your background is so cute! Where did you find it?
Hayden has this same obsession. I get one drawing cleaned up, and then find another one. Hope all is well!
What a nice use of color!
That Magic easer is a life saver.
I don't know how we have escaped that ever happening, but recently my 7 yr. old carved "Abby" in all my decorative candles with her finger nail. Like I was going to think I did it!
Kids.
Mary. I can SO relate to this. Peyton really enjoys coloring as well..epecially when it's on anything but paper. The ottoman, couches, toys, the kitchen floor...you'd think I'd wise up and not even give her the crayolas. I think I've finally learned my lesson, though!
Yeah, I hear ya! Logan is 4 and I STILL catch him doing this on occasion! Love them Magic Erasers!
PS Cute new background!
Some day you will look back at that and smile. She did such a great job! That's pretty funny. So far I haven't had that happen yet...but good to know if it does that the Magic Eraser will take care of it.
I feel your pain! My little Claire does the same thing. Makes life interesting that's for sure!
HEY you wonderful people,
This is Marty, sorry this is the first time I have checked out yourt site. I am so impressed, I love the back ground and dang your sadie is so dang cute.
He we do need to get together the twins would have a ball meeting Sadie and you both.
You asked a question about where I teach, brace yourself, I am a seminary teacher and Viewmont High School, yes a seminary teacher.
It is sooooo amazing, anyway. I miss you guys a ton and think about the WSU Davis days a ton. Blog us back so we can get together and we are really in the market for some sign stuff.
I am crazy so keep that in mind with this next comment, but creativity is one of the best things about children, so try not to kill that awesome characteristic (sp?) here are some crazy ideas that you might just love.
Set some ground rules first, let her know you love her coloring some much that you would hate to take away her crayons, and if she can follow some simple rules you won't have too.
(think about it like a kid, Sadies not like, oh awesome I am goin g to mess up moms house, most likely she just loves the idea of having a HUGE Canvas, think about as a kid wouldn't you) (It's dang funny actually!!!) anyway here are the ideas
1) Deicate a single wall, maybe even in her room where she can do this, haha I know I sound crazy, but serious, your raising a daught not a house, it might be cool and really fun.
If that's too crasy then you will probably like number 2 better.
2) Get some huge sheets of white butcher paper, you know the ones they put on tables, and have a schools and stuff, and tape it up with painters tape( that will keep the walls nice) and then let her go to town. Seriuos it will keep her creative, happy and following the rules but it will be insanly fun for all three of you, Yeah you better let my man charlie in on the fun.
I like both of these options becuase it is out side the box and makes for some AWESOME, FUN , Family traditions.
Well hope this is a usefull idea and you have to let me know how it goes.
Love you guys,
Marty and FAM.
P.S. Love Conquers All, (even an overly excited 2 year old with a box of crayons)
P.S.S
WOW I am a bad speller, haha I made a lot of mistakes in my last comment, but the one that was most important was " YOU are raising a Daughter not a House" somehow I put Daught instead of Daughter how weird is that???
Good thing I'm not and english teacher hahahaha
Marty
I'm glad we haven't had problems with this yet. I'm sure the time will come when Sebastian will wreck the walls of our rented house too.
I LOVE magic erasers! They are amazing!! My kids haven't really done the coloring the walls thing, but there is a first time for everything!
